Windows 10 Devices Settings Change Printers, Bluetooth, Mouse, etc, settings

Windows 10 is all-new with a new interface and new Settings. There is a new Devices section in Windows 10 PC Settings which makes it easy for users to add, remove or manage the devices connected to their PC. In this post, we will learn about the how to open and use the Devices Panel in Settings, and see how to change Printers, Scanner, Bluetooth, Mouse, Touchpad, Typing, Autoplay and Connected Devices preferences.

Device Settings in Windows 10 include all the settings that are related to Bluetooth, printers, scanners, and other devices. These settings make it easy for users to add, remove, or manage the devices connected to their PC.

The Devices tab in the Windows 10 Settings includes the following sections.

  1.  Bluetooth and other devices
  2.  Printers and scanners
  3.  Mouse
  4.  Touchpad
  5.  Typing
  6.  Pen & Windows Ink
  7.  AutoPlay
  8.  USB

Device Settings in Windows 10

Open the Windows 10 Settings app and click on the Devices tab. We will now go through all the sections under Devices.

1. Bluetooth and Other Devices

The Bluetooth feature can be used for connecting a device to your PC. Turn on the Bluetooth button and your PC will automatically start scanning for any Bluetooth device in range.

2. Printers and Scanners

In the Printers and Scanners tab, you will see all the connected printers and scanners. By clicking the add icon, you can also add a new printer or a scanner. You can see the device set up for Microsoft Print to PDF, Microsoft XPS Document Writer, Send to OneNote 2016, Snagit 12, etc.

Scroll down and you can see a button where you can turn on / off the download of drivers for new devices when on metered connections. Turning this button off will help you save your data while you are using a metered connection. You can also allow Windows to set your default printer to be the one you used most recently at your current location.

3. Mouse

This tab lets you configure the Mouse settings such as selecting your primary button as left or right and rolling the mouse to the wheel to scroll to either multiple lines at a time or one screen at a time.

You can choose how many lines you want to scroll each time between 1 to 100. Turn on the button if you wish to scroll inactive windows when you hover over them.

4. Touchpad

Touchpad settings let you adjust the mouse cursor delay. Under Touchpad Sensitivity, you will see four options - Most sensitive, High sensitivity, Medium sensitivity, Low sensitivity. Select the Medium sensitivity option to avoid the rapid movement of the cursor.

5. Typing

This tab allows the users to turn on/off the Spelling settings for Auto-correcting misspelled and highlighting misspelled words. Make changes as per your preferences under the Typing settings as well.

Scroll down and you will further see more settings under Hardware keyboard and Multilingual text suggestions. You can also explore the advanced keyboard settings here.

6. Pen & Windows Ink

In the Pen & Windows Ink tab, you can select the font when using handwriting. You can check or uncheck the box if you wish to write in the handwriting panel with your fingertip. On a tablet, you might be able to see additional settings as well.

7. AutoPlay

This tab is for adjusting the settings to media files of removable devices connected to your PC. You can select your device to play the media files automatically, to ask you every time or to open the device to view the files first. Set your options according to your preferences. The latest update shows separate tabs for a removable device and memory card as well.The Related Settings has a direct link to Default app settings in System Settings.

AutoPlay allows you to adjust the settings to media files of removable devices connected to your PC. You can select your device to play the media files automatically, to ask you every time, to open the device to view the files first, and so on. You can also choose to take no action. Set your options according to your preferences.

You can select the desired options under Removable drive and Memory card. The Related Settings has a direct link to Default app settings in the System Settings.

8. USB

Check the box to get notifications if there are any issues connecting to USB devices.
