Some websites prefer to display their content in multiple languages. As such, they offer more choices and give an opportunity for users to read the content in their local languages. Windows makes this possible by sharing information about the user's preferred Language list with such websites. Change how websites provide locally relevant content by accessing language list
Although the act of displaying content in locally relevant language by accessing your language list indicates Microsoft's courtesy towards its users, some still doubt it. If you feel the same, you can prevent or let websites provide locally relevant content via:
- Settings App
- Registry Hack.
Please note that irreversible changes may occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. You will have to reinstall the operating system in such a case. So, please proceed carefully and create a backup of your system first.
1] Settings App
Open 'Settings' by clicking on the 'Start' button and selecting 'Settings'.
Next, choose the 'Privacy' tab from 'Windows Settings'.
Thereafter, choose 'General' from the left pane and moving to 'Let websites provide locally relevant content by accessing my language list' option visible under 'Change privacy options' slide the toggle to 'On' or 'Off' position.
2] Registry Hack
Press Win+R in combination to launch the 'Run' dialog box.
When the box opens, type 'Regedit' in the empty field of the box and press 'Ok'.
Next, in the registry window that opens, navigate to the following path address -
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\International\User Profile
In the right pane of User Profile registry key, double click on HttpAcceptLanguageOptOut registry DWORD (REG_DWORD) to modify its Value data.
The default value displays 0. Set this value data to 1 and click OK. Close Registry Editor and restart the machine to allow changes to take effect.
If at any point, you feel to enable the setting again, simply change the value to 0 again.
