Microsoft to end support for Windows Vista SP1 on on July 12, 2011

Microsoft has announced to end the support for Windows Vista Service Pack 1 on July 12, 2011. This date is marked in accordance with the updated Service Pack Support policy as a part of Microsoft Support Lifecycle policy.

This date was marked when Windows Vista Service Pack 2 was released on April 29, 2009. Support for Windows Vista RTM already ended on April 13th 2010.

In the case of the Windows product family, when a new service pack is released, Microsoft will provide 24 months of support for the previous service pack. The General Availability Date of Windows Vista Service Pack 2 was 4/29/2009.

Windows Vista users must upgrade their Service Pack to continue to be eligible for Mainstream Support on Windows Vista. Once support ends for Windows Vista SP1, users who have not upgraded to a support service pack will not have access to new security updates, non-security hotfixes, or the option to engage Microsoft product development resources.

Microsoft advises customers to migrate to the latest supported service pack or product prior to end of support.

It is better to have Windows 7 or Windows Vista Service Pack 2 which provides greater security, reliability, environment-friendly features, and a host of other benefits.
