How To Upgrade Kaspersky 2012/2013 To Kaspersky 2014

Kaspersky Lab recently announced the release of Kaspersky Antivirus 2014 and Kaspersky Internet Security 2014 versions. Both Kaspersky Internet Security 2014 (KIS 2014) and Kaspersky Antivirus 2014 (KAV 2014) come with several innovate antivirus technologies and also enhancements to existing security features.

The ZETA shield antivirus technology is one of the newly added features to perform in-depth scan of files and programs.

If you have Kaspersky KIS/KAV 2012 or 2013 installed on your computer and if you have active license of Kaspersky 2012 or 2013, you're eligible to upgrade Kaspersky 2014 for free. Follow the given below instructions to safely upgrade your existing version of Kaspersky Internet Security or Kaspersky Antivirus to 2014 version.

There are two ways to update your existing Kaspersky installation to 2014 version. The first method doesn't require uninstalling the current version of your Kaspersky and lets you install Kaspersky 2014 on top of the existing installation. This means that you don't need to enter the product key again while upgrading the version. This method is useful if you have misplaced Kaspersky product key and don't want to enter the product key again.

And the second method requires you uninstall the existing version of Kaspersky and then install Kaspersky 2014 version.

Even though Kaspersky recommends you uninstall the current version and then install the latest version for optimal performance, you can follow the instructions provided in either of the two methods to upgrade your Kaspersky Antivirus or Internet Security to 2014 version.

Method 1: Upgrading to Kaspersky 2014 without uninstalling the existing version.

(As mentioned above, the main advantage of this method is that you don't need to enter the product key during the upgrade process.)

NOTE: We have used Kaspersky Internet Security as example in this guide. The procedure to uninstall and install both Kaspersky Internet Security and Antivirus are same.

Step 1: Visit this page of Kaspersky and download the trial setup of Kaspersky 2014 by providing your email address. The setup file of KIS 2014 is ~260 MB and KAV 2014 is ~ 234 MB, and both versions are compatible with 32-bit and 64-bit systems.

Step 2: Close all running programs. Run Kaspersky 2014 setup file, uncheck I want to participate in Kaspersky Security Network option if you don't want to, and then click Install button to begin upgrading your Kaspersky installation to version 2014.

Step 3: At the end of the upgrade process, you'll be asked to reboot your system. That's it!

Method 2: If you have time and don't mind uninstalling the current version and then installing the latest version, follow this recommended method.

Step 1: First step is to uninstall the existing version of Kaspersky from your PC. To do this, open Control Panel (see how to open Control Pane in Windows 8/8.1), click Uninstall a program option to open Programs and Features window.

Step 2: Here, locate the entry named Kaspersky Internet Security or Kaspersky Antivirus, right-click on it and then click Uninstall button, click Accept button when you see the confirmation box to begin uninstalling the program from your PC.

Please note that if you want to avoid entering the license key again while installing Kaspersky, you can choose to save the license information while installing the current version. When you see the following screen, be sure to select License information option before clicking the Next button.

You might be asked to restart your PC to complete the uninstallation process.

And if you're getting any error while uninstalling, download the official Kaspersky Removal Tool to completely uninstall Kaspersky.

Step 3: Next step is to download Kaspersky 2014. Visit this page of Kaspersky Lab and download Kaspersky 2014 product by entering your email address.

Step 4: Run Kaspersky 2014 setup file by double-clicking on it. Uncheck participate in Kaspersky Security Network if you don't want to send, and then click Install button to install the newest version of Kaspersky. Once installed, you'll be asked to restart your computer to finish the process.

That's it!
