Skype of late, has become an indispensable tool for any PC user. The service helps you save money on text messaging and international calls. It can be easily installed on any Windows computer or smartphone and offers users a essential IM and calling features. Since we spend so much time chatting on Skype, it's nice to know more about its possibilities and particularly its Emoticons.
Emoticons are symbols that that express the mood of a person in the course of conversation. These symbols enhance your communication and brighten up the discussion by making chatting more excited with animations. Skype is one service that uses emoticons largely. It automatically keeps turning characters you type into little hearts, cups of coffee, and other forms that though appear as major attractions for readers, don't appeal to everyone. You can turn off these effects on Skype directly if you do not like them.
The common Skype emoticons can be accessed by clicking on the smiley at the top of the compose message box, but there are tons more you can use. To generate them, you just have to type the corresponding word or symbol combination.
Most of us enjoy using emoticon, but there may be some Windows users, who may not have any use for them and want to disable them.

Disable Emoticons in Skype
If you're a Skype user and have a dislike, particularly for emoticons in your IMs, you can disable them.
To do so, open your Skype account, navigate to 'Tools' and from the left section of the computer screen chose 'IM Appearance' option.
Then, shift to right-pane and select 'IM Appearance'. Now, In the right pane uncheck Show emoticons option and click Save.
Instead of finding the actual emoticons, you'll see the text associated with the each emoticon. The emoticon text can be just as annoying, if you are in the course of conversation about something important.
If the above method doesn't work for you then go to -

\AppData\Roaming\
Now delete the folder SkypeEmoticons. In case you are not allowed to, open Task Manager and delete the task SE.exe and then delete the above mentioned folder.
