QuickEncrypt lets you encrypt & decrypt files & folders in Windows 10

To secure a file on a Windows 10 computer is to either encrypt a whole partition using BitLocker or by various types of archives. The use of archives usually involves a third party archiver like  7-Zip. But there are some third-party software that uses various methods to lock up files and folders on a computer. LeoMoon QuickCrypt is one such software. It makes use of the industry-standard Advanced Encryption Standard (AES 256- CBC) to encrypt files and folders.

Encrypt & decrypt files & folders using QuickEncrypt

The QuickCrypt software has the following major features:

To make the best use of this software is to first download the setup and run it.

It just weighs 18.4 Megabytes and is very easy to install. You need to extract the setup from the archive and run it like any other setup.

Once installed, open it.

How to encrypt a file

Under the Encrypt tab, you can hit that …  button to select a file to encrypt from the file picker.

You need to now set up a password and then confirm the password combinations for them to match.

You can check the Delete Source option to delete the original file while encrypting it. Do not worry, once the encryption is done, noting is dependent on the source file.

Finally, select Encrypt, and it will create a new file in the same location as the .aes extension, which needs to be run to open the file.

It will open the QuickEncrypt window. You can now enter the password you set earlier, and select Decrypt. This will open the file normally now.

How to decrypt a file

To decrypt the file, open QuickEncrypt, and go to the Decrypt tab.

Similarly, select the .aes file to decrypt, enter the password that you set earlier and select Decrypt. It will decrypt the file in the same location.

You can open the Pass Gen tab to generate a complex password based on different given parameters for your use.

It is worth noting that you need to have this software installed to make use of the features stated above. You can download the setup from its homepage.
