I had a client who was facing this issue, where he was unable to install KB2845533 of Windows Update. He was using a Windows 8 machine. So my first though towards the problem was to reset the Windows 10/8 Update components, because it's the first thing we try when we have a failed Windows Update. Because Windows Update Reset will reset Winsock values, clear the BITS queue, reset the Proxy connections and also reset the services responsible for Windows Update, it's pretty much the standard way to fix most of the Windows Update related issues.
Error 8007371B when installing Windows Update
Here is how you can try and fix Error 8007371B when installing KB2845533 on Windows computers.
The best and fastest way to reset Windows 8 Update is to use the traditional Windows Update Troubleshooter. So go ahead and run it.
Just follow the on-screen prompt to complete the process - it's pretty standard and straight forward. Once it was done, I rebooted the system and tried it. It again failed. So I had to do some research and finally found that there was a way to fix this error by using Deployment Image Servicing and Management.
To run it we first need to open the Command Prompt as administrator. To do so, press Win + X and click on Command Prompt (Admin) if you're on Windows 8.1 Press Win+C or swipe and choose Search. Type CMD in the search box and hit 'Enter'. Then, right-click Command Prompt, and choose the 'Run as administrator' option.
Then type in the following one by one by pressing the Enter key:
- DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Scanhealth
- DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
Once it had run its course, I rebooted the system and re-ran the update and voilà it had been fixed.
